Stand in two states at once
Texarkana's U.S. Post Office and Federal Building at 500 State Line Ave sits in both Texas and Arkansas and has two ZIP codes. Out front, Photographer's Island lets you take a picture with one foot in each state. Next door, Sheppard Park hosts the Texarkana Farmers Market.
Spring Lake Park (4303 N. Park Rd) covers 145 acres. It has a spring-fed lake, fishing piers, a 32-hole disc golf course, a 1.75-mile trail, a splash pad and a dog park. The Ace of Clubs House, an 1885 Victorian home shaped like the playing-card club, is closed for renovations, so check before you go.
In Marshall: fish our pond, catch East Texas Baptist University Tigers football, or plan around the FireAnt Festival (second Saturday of October) and the Caddo Kennel Club dog shows at Marshall City Arena.
